Sometimes I'll get lazy and leave my MTB on the rack in the bed of my truck for a day or two and I'll end up with a coating of rust I have to then clean off. Then again your milage may very depending on the soil and weather conditions where you live.

What am really asking in short words: What is the difference between car soap and bike soap?
I take my parts into the shower with me and use people liquid soap. Works friggan wonders, kills two birds with one stone, is dirt cheap, and leaves a nice ring in the tub.
