lipstick on a pig would be zipps on a pista. crank polishing is neither ostentacious or expensive.
i polished a sakae stem to a nice finish, but i used 800-1000 grit (wet sanding) and then metal polish. it turned out a lot shinier than i expected and i got out most of the imperfections. the best thing was that the stem was free.
