I'm a combination of fitness and environmental commuter. I'm enjoying getting in shape, I find the commute a lot of fun, I enjoy the thought that every day that goes by, I'm NOT burning a gallon of gasoline that I otherwise would be. I have to admit, I'm a bit of an iconoclast, and I like that I'm doing something that not many people do; I have yet to talk to anyone at work (there are 600 here) or in the neighborhood or church who even knows anyone else who commutes. This is pretty sad, considering that I'm sure that at least a few hundred people at work live within 5 miles. One, who I know is in really pretty good shape, lives less than 2 miles away and thinks the thought of cycling even occasionally to work is laughable.
