The above link explains the differences in cassette hubs. Unfortunatley, I bookmarked the 8 sp conversion page but the new owners took it down. It was the only in depth explanation of what was involved. I e-mailed the new owner to see if still is up but I'm not holding my breath.

Could you summarize what this procedure is? With shimano it's as easy as taking the cassette off and 10mm hex to swap out.
I'm interested in doing this as I have a very nice 8 sp wheelset.
