Figure on 1L just over 1 US Quart per hour, given that most water bottles are 750ML (¾L) given a pace of 15MPH the 50 miler is a little over 3 hours or say 3¼L or just over 4 full bottles, best way to get that capacity, is a 2L CAMELBAK or similar hydration unit, plus 2 bottles. Cheap way of getting that capacity is to strap a 2L pop bottle filled with water on your bike, if you want it cold, fill ¾ full, and pop into the deep freeze, top up just before you leave. Plus have 2 bottles, which you will refill from the pop bottle when you stop for some reason. For bikes with a rack, you can always strap your water supply onto the rack.....
