RST Omega SC suspension forks Problem!

I recently bought 2007 RST Omega SC suspension forks and until last week I've been very happy with them (lightweight, good torsional rigidity & very cheap).

Last week I landed a jump of only about 3-4ft to find that the forks completely bottomed out, and the travel adjustment rod burst out of the top of the fork making them unusable.

I've overhauled the forks completely in an attempt to repair them and found that the adjustment rod bears the weight of the bike and the suspension rely's on the support of this rod although the ony support i can find for it was tha plastic caps on the top of the fork.

Has anyone else encountered this problem before and is there anyway which I can repair it?

Cheers!
