Yeah, you have to give up the disc to get the fixed/free setup. I wouldn't want to ride a bike like this without the option of a freewheel anyway. Also, fixed disc hubs for mountain bikes are very uncommon and expensive. Besides, a rim brake on the rear is sufficient, especially when riding fixed (I have a disc on the front).
