It will soften with use. I don't have any issues with mine now, but I also use a chamois creme on each ride just to make sure I get no rubbing no matter what bibs I use.

I also have some from http://www.boure.com/ and they are really nice too. They are a little big in the sizing, so if you are in-between sizes, go to the next lowest size. I have another set from Nashbar and they are ok, but nothing to right home about. I want a pair of the Hammer Bibs, but need to lose some more weight first.
