Centrepulls use a cable hanger both front and rear. The one at the front goes under the headset nut, and the rear one is attached to the seat bolt. Without those, you are **** out of luck.
Right, but the OP said he was using the centerpull only as a front brake so I didn't mention the rear cable hanger.
There are stems with built in cable housing stops but they aren't common and drilling a regular stem is highly NOT recommended.
