Water pistols leak. I used to use this tactic when I was a kid. Pepper spray works well, but you have to get the kind that comes out in a solid stream rather than a spray. Also, if it gets on your bare skin it will burn like hell. If you get it on your hands, you may not know it since that skin is fairly thick. However, you may then transfer it to more, ah, sensitive body parts when you stop to take a leak.
