I'm 5'9" and I ride a 53cm, but there are a few things wrong with this thought process.
1. 53cm between different manufacturers means two totally different things
2. I'm 5'9" but have a 30" inseam which means my legs are a little short for my height.
3. You must get fitted for a bike to see if it fits.
