That means you will be taking hwy 36 unless you are on logging roads and it is even more knarley than 299. The sight lines on 36 are worse than 299 and when I was doing construction a lot of the drivers were nascar wannabees and drove that way. I would love to ride 299 or 36, super views and pretty trees on the rivers but I would be very careful of the drivers.

I have never ridden either roads on a bike and I am only speaking as a driver. A lot of 36 would be safe but the choke points where the road is really twisty and has redwood/fir trees that block your view are many.

Your trip sounds like a lot of fun and I am jealous somewhat. The mountains/hills would be a real challange for me but fun nevertheless.
