Another thought...clean your chain often. I use a 1lb coffee can with a 1/8" steel mesh screen in the bottom. I formed the screen so it sits off the bottom about 1". I also use about 4" of paint thinner to soak the chain in. Use a quick link so you can undo your chain easily. Dump it in the thinner, let it soak about 15 minutes, then use a toothbrush to clean it as you bring it out of the can. Keep on using any high quality lube.
