Mikey,
I don't know what kind of riding that you do but if I wanted to teach someone to ride a bike I would first go to Walmart and buy a nice cheap single speed beach bike like the ones we all had when we were youngsters. Upright position, wide steady handlebars, and maybe even a ladies step-through design. And then I would ride with her for short distances, 1-3 miles, at 8-10 mph pace for months until she absolutely wanted to ride. Or didn't want to ride anymore.
It is too easy after reading these forums for awhile to assume that you can't be riding unless you have a fancy bike, ride long distances, and strive for speed. Way too much stuff to overload someone who has never been on a bike.
