Perhaps, though one persons "misery", is another's (welcomed) tough challenge.

The "trick", for me at least, is the reward found in the sheer accomplishment and triumph of it, which tends to outweigh the pains endured while doing it. There will be pains, for sure, but if pains equate to "agony" -- then you're either: too out of condition for such an undertaking; pushing yourself too hard while doing it; not keeping properly fueled and hydrated; or have some kind of equipment and/or equipment fitment, problem - IMHO.

I enjoy the challenge of them. If/when they ever get to be "no big deal" to me, I'll probably stop doing them. I hope that day never comes.
