I rode a few miles home after a crash that sent the chainring through my Achilles tendon, partially severed it. It didn't really hurt much at first...but when I noticed my sock soaked in blood and my ability to walk decreased significantly, I knew something was wrong
It's definitely a good idea to carry a phone, although most of my trails are out of reception unless I'm riding along the ridge.
