older Phil Wood bottom bracket question

Help!

I've got an new old stock Phil Wood bottom bracket I want to mount on my titanium mountain bike. Unfortunately the spindle length of the bb is 130. (Also, it's square taper.)

Does that 130 put my crank too far out? I think the usual mountain bike bb is 117...

If I get some older square taper cranks, or some slick new Middleburn ones, can I use this bb? Or will I have to resort to spacers and the like?

Thanks for any help you might be able to give me.
