Yep and it's super easy. I upgraded my 94 GT Timberline FS this Summer. New 7 speed shifter pods and Avid Single Digit levers since the old pods & levers were integrated. You'll probably need to run full length cable housings, so plan on getting that and cables too along with the V brake assemblies.
The bosses are the same, swap them over and have brakes that actually work!
