Thats what I thought I would do for my son (4 yrs.), but as soon as I removed the cranks, he refused to get on the bike. Finally, I relented and put the cranks back on and just started pushing him around in the parking lot, helping him balance. To my surprise, he had figured out how to countersteer in about 10 minutes, and after 30 minutes he was fully riding on his own. I was amazed. Hes easily the youngest kid on the block without training wheels.
