I actually intentionally use a full plug "in ear" phone that blocks outside sound, but only in one ear. If I use a normal ear bud, or probably this thing, I have to crank the volume to almost painful levels to overcome the wind noise. With a closed plug, I can leave the volume much lower, and I just leave my left ear with nothing.
