Oct 12 The Civista Potomac Heritage Bicycle Tour La Plata, MD. 14, 33, 60, 80, and 100 miles through Southern Maryland. All routes, from the casual 14-mile family ride to the challenging 100-mile century route, will take cyclists along the scenic on-road bicycle route of the Potomac Heritage Trail National Scenic Trail. The event is sponsored by the Civista Health Foundation and proceeds will go toward necessary renovations of Civista Hospital's pharmacy, which provides critical services to hundreds of patients each and every day. Cyclists will return to La Plata to the Crossing at Casey Jones, where they will enjoy an after-ride party with food and entertainment. Pre-registration fee of $30 covers rest stops along the route, SAG support, marked routes, cue sheets, and the after-ride party. The first 250 to register also receive a t-shirt and ride souvenirs. Riders are encouraged to pre-register to be assured of getting a t-shirt and other ride souvenirs. Participants can register online at www.active.com or download a registration form. Day-of-ride registration begins at 7:00 am and is $35.

Oct 25 Between the Waters Bike Tour Wachapreague, VA. 25, 40, 60, and 100 miles through interesting historic towns and communities and along back roads to scenic rest stops that overlook the Atlantic seaside and the Chesapeake Bay. This one day bike tour is an ecotourism event and fundraiser for Citizens for a Better Eastern Shore, a non-profit organization serving Northampton and Accomack counties. Online registration or you may download a mail-in registration form. $35 per rider until September 30--$45 after October 1. Children 7-12 yrs. $15 per rider until September 30--$20 after October 1.Children 6 yrs & under free, but require a registration form and signed release form. All riders who register by September 30 will receive a T-shirt. T-shirts for those who register after October 1 will be available on a first come, first served bases and sizes cannot be guaranteed. Rest Stops with Snacks/Beverages. Picnic Lunch.
