I have the glossy black regular Z's, and the paint scratches easily. Brass cleats + gloss black enamel paint= scratched mess.

Doesn't hurt anything, though. Plus it makes you look like a REAL biker, and not just Fred with pristine top-of-line parts, with not one speck of mud or a scratch.

Personally, I don't think its worth the extra cost ($50+?) just to get a better finish on the pedals.
