If you want something to take your mind off things, build a bike. Even if you don't do it "for real", do the research and spec it out on paper, starting with a frame. In addition to an excercise in distraction, it will help you identify what you really want in a bike. Then when the time comes to make a buying decision, you'll be better informed both about bikes and about what you want.
