My roomie and I both bought the same 12V lighting system back in August; we use mainly our 10W bulbs, for about an hour each time, 4-5 times per week. Our original 10W bulbs blew within perhaps two weeks of each other, each with less than 100 hours on the clock.

As an (experimental) fix, I've designed a soft-start circuit to protect them at power-on; I just posted it over in my "Hello, and my "Total Geekiness" entry" thread.

My bike headlights are among the last battery-powered incandescents I own; LEDs rule.
