I am rebuilding an old Raleigh "Ltd" (restoration).
I've decide to replace the steel rims with alum (waiting for those to come in): The front wheel was a mess anyway; but the original rear hub is in great shape (And it makes that nice old-school "rattlesnake" sound when it is free-wheeling: Schweeeeeeet!).
Frame is stripped; Going to repaint it myself in true "rat rod" style.
I do want to repaint with the original deep maroon; and then pinstripe gold around the lug-edges. -Love lugged frames!
The Raleigh logo-plate just needed a little polishing: Re-rivet it on once paint is done.
The sweet thing is that the original Suntour running gear is in excellent shape (oooooo SHINY): I have rebuilt both derailleurs, and the brake calipers.
Going to replace the original chain with a nice silver one.
Even the "pie plate" still has it's shiny goodness: I would normally take a plastic pie-plate off of a bike; but this one is thin steel and I want to keep as much chrome on as possible. ;+)
