Greetings to you all.
I was hoping that some of you could offer me some advice.
I bought a cheap WalMart bike 2 summers ago & rode it A LOT & lost 40 lbs in a few months.
I live close enough to my office that I can use a bike for commute.
The bike was stolen about a year ago & I'm now looking for a replacement & I'd like to get something a lot nicer this time.
I like a mountain bike for the smooth suspension ride & durability. I 'm pretty sure I want disc brakes & I don't want those twist shifters.
I'd like to do a little trail riding & I do hop a lot of curbs & such when I'm just out cruisin but I seriously don't think I'll be hitting any serious jumps.
Keep in mind that I'm 6'1" & 250ish.
The bikes I've looked at are both new & used. My budget is 200 - 450 USD.
I want to get quality but don't have as much money as I'd like to put into this to get a super sweet ride.
Could anyone suggest a place to look for a deal besides ebay or craigslist?
Is there anything I should watch out for?
What brands & models are a good buy for the price?
