There are alot of numbers being thrown around here. I cant really explain how o find your ration other than telling you to try different ratios. I bought a handfull of cheap cogs when I was just getting into FG and started with the lowest gear ratio I could to get used to riding these style bikes. I went to a higher and higher gear as I "porgressed" in skill until I found the sweet spot between speed, control, and being able to climb. I live in colorado so hills are very common. I ride a 48x16 on my main commuter. I am trying to find a good cruising gear for my newest addition which I am thinking will land in the 48x17 or 18 range.
