Yes I believe that is correct. A cassette that has tall spline slots can fit tall (DA10) or short spline (8/9/10) hubs, but a cassette that has short spline slots (basically all SRAM/Shimano that isn't DA10), will not be able to fit a tall spline hub. It makes sense if you think about it.
