A wise person once said that a snake on a bicycle is still a snake. The cycling tribe has its share of bad eggs, boneheads, stupid and inconsiderate people. Riding a bike does not make one good.

For the most part, I try to be the kind of cyclist I wish others were. I ride responsibly on trails and in traffic. I try to be polite and helpful to other cyclists. I try to give something back to the sport that has given me so much. I keep in mind that when I am on a bike I represent all cyclists.

I have met a lot of great people on bicycles. They are my tribe. They are my friends. And mostly I enjoy their company.

As for the snakes, they are beneath notice. To paraphrase Bill and Ted: Be excellent to each other and ride on!
