The Safari is a pretty capable bike - commuting, loaded touring, dirt and gravel roads, bike paths. You could load it up and ride cross-country.

IMHO it's a lot more bike than the Transfer.

Another nice bike, if you want something lighter but still very suitable for loaded commuting and touring on pavement, is the Novara Randonee, also on sale now...
