The riding is to justify all the eating, right?

To answer your question, oatmeal + honey when I first get up, wash it down with a black tea. Put another black tea in a travel cup to nurse for an hour or so while driving and getting my number/setting up.

About an hour before the race, I eat a small box of raisins. While I'm warming up I drink a bottle of fruit juice, either Odwalla or Trader Joes. From about a 1/2 hour before the race and through it, just water. For a long race/ride some sort of carbo drink, generally Twin Labs. If I'm doing 2 races in a day, then a box of raisins in between.

I don't get the opportunity to do a bunch of long races, but with long rides, I really force myself to eat bars and cookies. 3-6 hours in, it really starts paying off. I try to avoid gels.

The raisin thing I read in some rag. Apparently they're better than a gel for energy.
