I have a 48t chainring and a 15 and 17 on the rear hub, I stick to 17 most of the time though, the 15 is too much for anything but long flat rides.

And I've found that the only people who really care what you're riding are people who use their bike as a fashion accessory first, and a bike second (or not at all).
