Happened to me - lost a pair of dress pants that way while riding up a hill - I somehow hit my knee pretty good with the handlebars, and managed to keep riding without coming unclipped - something I still haven't worked out the logistics on. Cut them off just above the tear, and have another 3/4 length pair of pants in my wardrobe.
