The hole is only going to help if you want to get the disk out and the drive is broken. Reformat before you reinstall, don't repair. If you have a partition, leave the small partition as it is probably the reinstall that came with the computer. Don't repair as it's just going to try and fix what it finds wrong with your OS and not get rid of the virus. Do you have any instant messenger service/gmail?

Try booting up again and selecting full reinstall, it might call it destructive or something. If you don't need any data you want to wipe that sucker clean to get rid of the virus.
