The red end could be molded as part of the whole grip. Take a photo or two of the underside of the shifter/brakes/grip to spot any fastening bolts.
Also, pick up a bottle of isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) at the supermarket. If you can get it in between the grip and the bar, it will lube the grip to help it slide off, and evaporate afterwards.
