Just peeked at the weather forecast for tomorrow. PAlt, myself and others will be doing Mitchell. It is a point to point ride and basically heads north for most of the 102 miles. It appears the temperatures are probably going to be in the 50's for most of the ride.......which is about 40 degrees cooler than last year-at least that's a relief. However you never know what Mitchell itself has in store-usually cooler and more wind.
However it also looks like there will be headwinds anywhere from 6 to 15 mph for most of the ride. At least some of the climbs should be sheltered by the terrain. Note to self: find a group and stay off the front!!!!
Good luck. Wnds can be wearing, and, as I understand it, Mt. Mitchell is a major challenge without wind.
