Well, I looked around and there didn't seem to be a parts dedicated sub-forum so I am just putting it here as it is on a mountain bike

Anyway, I have some kind of Shimano crankset and I would like to take it off. (because I simply want to) But it seems to be stuck on pretty tight. It is obviously a three piece and the bolts on both side have been removed. I know that it is a square rod that the two cranks bolt onto, but that is about it, any ideas on safe adn effective removal?
