North Yorkshire Moors

I'm a Yank with a free weekend coming up before some meetings in June in Manchester and Birmingham and am thinking of doing a figure-eight loop in the North Yorkshire Moors, starting near Great Broughton and going through Bloworth Crossing, Hutton le Hole and I don't know where else but there is a link here http://www.offroadadventures-online.com/index.html and of course I'll get the map. I've found a bike hire and a decent place to stay so that's the plan for now at least.

Any advice on riding in this area? Should I consider other spots, say the Lakes District perhaps? I'm reasonably fit and experienced, coming from the Boston area where the weather is crap and unpredictable, too. I've got most of a Saturday afternoon and all day Sunday, needing to be in Manchester by evening. Many thanks for any advice.
