From what I understand Octalink v1 has been more or less abandoned for Octalink v2. The difference is the depth of the splines on the crank arm interface. Octalink v2 is very nice and easy to install. I just installed an Ultegra 6603 crank set replacing a Bontrager Select ISIS drive and have noticed an increase in rigidity.
