actually, bad advice. It is best to consume smaller quantities of complex-carbohydrates repeatedly over a period of 36-48 hours. There is no good reason to "load carbs" at a single setting, especially the night before an event.

Breakfast can be tricky as well. One idea is to "dribble carbs" in so as to top off stores without triggering a insulin response that would thwart glycogen conversion once the event starts. The other idea is that you can go ahead and "throw in" a particular amount of carbs at one sitting - up to a point - and this is based on your BMI - usually around 300 kcals for a 150lb athlete.
