The chain tension may be too loose. Do the following test to determine if it is.

Standing on the left side of the bike, reach over the top to and grab the downtube or seat tube with your left hand and raise the bike so it is horizontal. Now with your right hand, spin the cranks both forwards and backwards. If the chain falls off, it's too loose. If the chain stays on, it's just right.
