I agree. But the 7900 works fine, particularly with the new cables. The 7800 has a shorter throw to initiate a shift, that's the issue in my experience. But once you're used to it, the 7900 is OK.
There are also minor issues with Red that I've heard from users and my LBS, which would be beating a dead horse here. Like RW says, different strokes. It's all good, it all works. Again, when you're talking pricey bicycles, once you get over $3K or so, none of it sucks.
