Thanks for that info, will recheck Jenson. Trust me, first thing tomorrow, I am heading to the LBS. The more I look at it though, I am wondering if maby it was the BB she bent somehow. I am not a bike mech, but I have owned and messed up enough bikes to know its not always what you think is wrong I did look on Jensons site, saw a set of Alivio cranks for under 40 bucks. Had a set of them on a old bike and never had a problem with them, so that always a option also. She is still a beginner,and by no means a die hard rider, so I am going to go the most economical way. If I can just get a replacement arm, then that would be awesome, but again the bike is a 98 model, is that not going to make a difference?
