I did the exact same thing following the same instructions. It worked out perfectly. The instructions mention dremmeling to get the cog to fit. I'm not sure what thats about. I didn't need to dremel anything for a 17t tomicog. With the surly hub and tomicog, I got a 45-46mm chainline, which is what I needed. With a tiny amount of dish you could get it a few mm inward.
