I use Time Atacs with Pearl Izumi Vagabond mountain shoes. It's my first clipless setup, and I have no complaints about the Atac pedals. The shoes ($36 shipped from nashbar) have a very spiky/chunky tread and every now and again they get caught on the pedal. Walkability is somewhere in the middle, and the construction looks a little shoddy to me. The sole is a solid piece of plastic, which is the biggest reason I went with them instead of something
