I have that one in solid black, and I have about the same ride as you. I didn't know about the whole "Not made in the USA" thing, but that doesn't really bother me since I haven't seen a quality difference. What does bug me is that the laptop sleeve is right up against your back in its own pocket. This causes two worries:
1) I am not 100% convinced it is waterproof since it isn't covered like the main compartment
2) When it is really full, the computer sits on your back like a plank and makes the bag slide into your face, making you almost spill and look like an idiot.
But when it isn't completely full, I love it. If I had to do it again, I may get a Chrome, but it certainly isn't awful.
