In this debate, I still think the 420s are worth looking at - they clock in at about 1450g, are good for racing and still light for some climbing.
I have a set of OP/Record wheels that I use daily, and I've got an AC cassette on the way that I'll run on an old set of DA/CXP-30 wheels for flat road races or, if I race more than I think I will now, TT's. So, I think I'm covered with all but the mountains and, as I've said, occasional crits. Now, the OP set that I've got would also be fine in a crit and, with straight guage spokes in the rear, they're especially bomb proof but not exactly featherweights. Hence my careful attention to too many details in the decision making process.
