Thanks for the advise guys. I did post on the other Forum and received a number of responses. In the end, I decided to purchase a new bike . . . even though my old one seems OK. It is just that I figured a number of innovations must have taken place over the past 22 years in bike technology. That is, better gear shifters, derailleurs, and most of all more chain rings on the rear cassette. So, I went to a couple of local bike shops and spent a few days riding different bikes. What a difference! Anyway, I purchased a Avalanche 1.0 GT All Terrain with SR Suntour Mag 32 Suspension fork, Shimano Deore shifters Shimano SLX rear derailleur, Shimano Deore front derailleur and a nine chain ring rear cassette. I have been riding it now for forty-five minutes to an hour each morning for a
couple of weeks. Really nice. I'll keep you posted on my progress . . . loosing weight, gaining strength and endurance, etc.
