I started my getting my life back in order in January and getting into shape and was 215lbs. A proper diet with hitting the gym 5-6 days a week which included using the stationary bike in the winter months because it's too cold and snowy here in the winter to ride. I have been mountain biking, hiking and riding my roadbike 60km - 90km 3 times a week with hitting the gym for 3 times a week and I am down to 155lbs down 60lbs. So I would say yes it will help but it certainly wont hurt. Proper diet is at least 60% of the battle
