Shimano bar cons with one sided support appear to be more vulnerable to being bent than the old Suntour ones that held the lever on both sides. Last year my LHT fell over without me on it and knocked the support in about 5degrees and have been using it since. I had similar falls happen to the old Suntour and that never happened. I wouldn't consider it a vulnerability requiring the need to carry a spare.
